Margate Poster Development

This was my starting process into coming up with a typographic style which would look good on the page " Come and visit Margate" sounded too bland and boring so I felt I had to think of something else to further develop this .
I felt that in development to my previous type style this one works much better "Come and experience Margate" makes margate sound very interesting and from an advertising perspective will give a much better effect. I also think the type works well as a whole together and will sit nicely on the top of an image, given that it is in a good position.

I started experimenting with the placement of my type over an image of margate, I tried distorting the text so that it fit nicely along the sand but I think it makes the poster look really cheesy and unprofessional so I need to further develop this idea.

In development to my first Idea i think this one works much better as the text is out of the way and is in an area where it does not ruin the image. As the poster still looks like its plain I feel I need to add something to it like colour or some more information on Margate, this will also advertise Margate and make it sound more appealing,

Here I tried putting the type at the bottom centre of the page which I think works much better, I also changed the opacity of the page in order for the white to stand of the page more. I also added a drop shadow on the text in order for it to stand out better of the page. Lastly I added "Definitely one of the best beaches in the UK" this gives the poster a selling point and gives people another reason to go Margate.

This is my final poster piece for Margate, after some thought I thought it was best to have "Come & experience Margate " at the top of the page so that when someone acknowledges the poster they know imediatly what it is about. Once the text at the top of the page is read the audience will also know that the image is of margate. At the bottom of the page is a quote "definitely one of the best beaches in the Uk" which is from tripadvisor , this gives the audience another reason to go to margate as someone else who has already been there has given a good review

Poster Research

I found this typographic poster and really liked it, the poster is very simple but at the same time is very design filled with colour. The type on the poster is all the same typeface and all the designer has done is change the scale of it to give this effect. colour is then added behind the text to give this effect

What I can take from this poster? never underestimate simplicity, simple things can gradually turn into something that has a massive impact. Choosing the right colours to work as an image alongside text help into creating a good piece, experiment with colour.

Ive always liked the idea of using simple type over a one colour background and this poster is a prime example of that. This poster reminds me that in some cases Less is more. What I also like about this poster is the feel it gives you from the style in which the text is presented this emphasizes on the "Love Me" Text giving it more connotation.

I took these 4 images of posters as they were very unique, in these cases the design lays within the style of the text and the colours used, these are more complicated styles but with a very rewarding outcome, I believe the type that has been created in illustrator.

Again another poster which is very simple but very effective, larger pieces of text are normally the pieces of text which are of more relevance which may be the case in this poster. the contrast between smaller and larger text can sometimes work well together, and I think this is something I am going to try with my poster.

In some cases like this poster above the background is the main feature. Sometimes choosing a good background can make up for having an even more simple typeface and layout and the poster above definitely shows that.

what I can take from this poster?
As my poster is to promote Margate, an image may be the best form to put this accross, the picture shown above has simple text over a more complicated image. An image of margate with some simple text over the top with relevant information might just be the key to creating a good poster.

This poster has used CMYK colours and again with a background image which is in black and white, the reason this poster works so well in my opinion is that the colours really stand off the page and give a very nice contrast, maybe this is something I can consider. Using a black and white image of margate with colourful text over the top.
